Needlepoint Sayings

A couple of weeks ago pieces of Bunny Mellon’s estate were auctioned. One piece that was immensly popular with bloggers and designers was her needlepoint, “Your Nobunny till Somebunny Loves You.”

As luck would have it, Kate Dickerson has a similar design that reads, “Every Bunny Needs Some Bunny to Love.”

Needlepoint pillows that feature sweet and/or cheeky sayings have always been immensly popular with interior designers, such as Mario Buatta and Jonathan Adler. They provide whimsy and a touch of sass. Plus, they are immensly fun to work on.

Below are links to artists we carry that feature sayings:

Dog Days of Summer

I cannot believe Labor Day is this weekend! This summer has whizzed by. As sad as I am to pack up my white jeans and sundresses, I am more than ready for cozy sweaters and cords. As a tribute to our last few days of summer, I am featuring dog canvases that are sprinkled throughout the shop. After all, these are the dog days of summer!

This Maggie & Co. “hugtime” canvas is 13 mesh and $205.

Everyone who comes into the store immediately notices this ADORABLE Maggie & Co. canvas! Personally, I cannot get enough of the details such as the tennis ball hubcaps or the rabbit at the front of the car. This canvas is $175 and is on 18 mesh.

The canvases featured above are part of a series from Susan Battle Designs called “Mod Dogs.” Each canvas is $148 and is on 13 mesh. To see the full line visit our Facebook page, and the album titled “Mod Dogs.”

Shown above is another line from Susan Battle Designs. This line features dog commands. Each canvas is $115 and on 13 mesh. These canvases would be a great project to learn new stitches on as there are large areas of color!

This daschund two part pillow is…you guessed it, another Susan Battle designs canvas! I sense a trend… The daschund pillow is $178 and on 13 mesh.

I hope some of these canine pillows got your tail wagging! However, if you are a feline fanactic there are a couple of canvas designers who feature cute cats.

We hope everyone has a relaxing and fun Labor Day Weekend! We will be open this Saturday, August 30th from 10 am until 2 pm. We will be closed on Labor Day, Monday September 1st. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 2nd.

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow

Gosh! Could this DC weather be any gloomier? The rainy weather has weighed us down this week. Yet, this dreary weather provides us with the perfect excuse to stay inside and needlepoint! A definite upside to the week…

At the Point of It All we like to maintain a perpetual sunshine state of mind. We’re glass half full kind of gals. Therefore, despite the weather we do believe the sun will come out tomorrow! An easy way to convince yourself of this fact is by working on a bright and sunny canvas. After all, summer is right around the corner. Below are a few of our summer canvases.

If none of these capture your attention, you can always place an order with us! Listed below are some artists that epitomize a sunshine state of mind. Take a quick browse on their websites! We guarantee you’ll feel instanstly less gloomy!

‘Tis the Season

It ’tis the season! No, not the season for holidays. It ’tis the season for college acceptances! Throughout the country parents are sighing with relief, and enormous weights have been lifted off of the shoulders of high school seniors. There is a feeling of calm in the air!

A great way to celebrate a college acceptance is through a needlepoint gift! The Point of It All has a few suggestions:

1) A personalized way to celebrate a college acceptance is by having Deborah (our custom artist) paint a custom canvas for your child. It could feature the school mascot or simply the school colors. A very popular gift for high school graduates heading to college is a “life belt.” To create a life belt, we would collaborate with our customer to pick out logos that have special meaning for their child. For example, a “life belt” could feature your dog, the colleges’ mascot, and the high school mascot. “Life belts” are an easy, quick project that your child will cherish forever!

2) When I headed to college I found out the hard way that keys should ALWAYS be kept on a key ring! Losing dorm keys is not only annoying, but also expensive. Needlepointing a keychain ensures your child doesn’t lose their dorm keys. Plus, a keyring is the perfect momento to remind your child of how proud you are!

3) Needlepoint by The Collection has cute canvases to remind your college bound child to check in every now and then! Featured below are their “Call Your Mother She Worries” and “E-Mail Your Mother She Worries.” Both of these canvases would be cute as a board mount to hang or a pillow.

4) Our fourth and final suggestion is a bit naughty! The Point of It All DOES NOT support underage drinking BUT a funny college present could be a needlepoint flask! Below is a shop model we have. The flask comes with different inserts. This gift is perfect for your junior year college student who just turned 21!!

Congratulations to the all the recent college acceptances!
