Taking a Seat!

Susan Battle Needlepoint's Tea Cups child's rocking chair

I just picked up one of my Susan Battle Needlepoint canvases from the upholsterer…I am so pleased with the results! Take a look:

I’ve also designed a Tea Cups canvas and a Treasure Map canvas that fit this child’s rocking chair. Obviously I’ll be doing the pink tea cups one for my baby Betsy! She can’t sit up unassisted yet but it’s never too early to start stitching!

Of course I’ve also planned to stitch the leopard print child’s director’s chair from J. Child Designs for her…I am going to add “Miss Battle” inside the pink outline.

The Susan Battle Needlepoint designs are available through my website (click here) or you can always call the shop to order them and any of the wonderful J. Child designs.

Betsy will have her choice of prime seating! If I get really ambitious and neglect all of my work and family duties, I could stitch this full sized chair from Trubey Designs. It is magnificent. It’s the sort of the Statement Piece that you stitch and then design a room to go with your chair!

Christmas Cheer

Betsy at Christmas!

Best stocking stuffer EVER.

Best Stocking Stuffer!
Best Stocking Stuffer!

The three traditional stockings are designed by Sandra Gilmore…they are beautifully painted and were a joy to stitch. I used a variety of fibers, including Petite Peluche for the fluffy trim on Santa’s coat. I decided not to use any decorative stitches because there was so much going on already and I wanted the design, colors, and fiber textures to speak for themselves.

Buster’s dog bone stocking is from the Susan Battle Needlepoint line.

I wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year…onward to 2013!

Happy stitching,
Susan

Voila's Superman wallet

It’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s Superman’s wallet!

Voila's Superman wallet
Voila’s Superman wallet

Voila Needlepoint has just designed a totally awesome wallet for a man! So many customers have asked about needlepoint wallets for husbands or boyfriends and I didn’t really have anything. Voila has filled that void. They are coming out with new designs but right now they have Superman, camo, and a skull & crossbones. All look great! The canvas is finished with soft leather in your choice of color. The inside has slots for credit cards and a pocket for cash.

Needlepoint canvas: $64
Leather finishing: $140
Giving a needlepoint wallet you made: PRICELESS

Happy stitching,
Susan

Most versatile tote bag EVER!

Voila Project Bag
Voila Project Bag
Voila Project Bag

Voila has recently debuted the most versatile tote bag EVER! They call it a project bag and it comes in a variety of colors. Check out their website by clicking here. The bags are $80. Then the fun part: select a belt canvas of your choosing and stitch it up! Send the completed canvas back to me and I’ll finish it with the leather backing and clips on either end. The finishing is approximately $150.

Yippee for another use of a needlepoint belt (besides accentuating one’s waist)!

You can stitch multiple straps and swap them on your project bag for a bunch of different looks! I’m really jazzed about these bags.

In fact, I just packed my orange and leopard bag (pictured above) for the hospital! Chris and I are excited to share that our daughter’s due date is only 2 weeks away! Next week’s blog post will be a showcase of all the needlepoint I’ve done for the nursery.

Happy stitching…happy toting,
Susan

Sweet Dreams, Ladybug

Susan Battle Needlepoint's Sweet Dreams, Ladybug

Doesn’t every little girl’s nursery need a sweet baby sleeping sign? New from Susan Battle Needlepoint: Sweet dreams, ladybug.

The canvas is available on 13 mesh for $68 from The Point of It All’s online store. Click here! I used Silk & Ivory and Balger braid; it’s all basketweave though you could certainly do a decorative stitch in the stripes.

I love the double ruffle and the mix of fabrics.

Happy stitching!
