If you waited until the last minute and need one more present or stocking stuffer, how about a key fob from Elizabeth Turner? I stitched up this bee in one night and then easily (and quickly) inserted it into the leather fob. We’ve got a nice selection of these kits in the shop. Come by Tuesday or Wednesday morning!

Happy stitching and happy holidays,
Susan

Santa’s on his way!

Look who just arrived!

Amanda Lawford Giant Santa

This Santa stands 30″ tall! He comes on 13 or 18 mesh; I stitched him on 13. Amanda Lawford has a bunch of different Santas; click here to see them.

This canvas was so much fun to stitch! I used a bunch of different threads and a few different stitches. He’ll be back in the shop after the holidays so you can see him in person. (The only way I could get him home was to strap him in Betsy’s car seat!)

Merry Christmas and happy stitching,
Susan

I’m back!!!!

I’m thrilled to be back at The Point of It All after a wonderful maternity leave with Baby Jack (already three months) and Betsy (two years in October)! I’m easing back into working full time: I will be at the shop three days per week right now. It’s been great to see customers and to get back in the needlepoint swing of things.

I was excited to pick up two of my pillows that had been finished while I was away. I stitched a Jean Smith floral and a Kate Dickerson Ikat. Here they are pictured in my guest room. We don’t have many guests these days but I still thought the bedroom needed some needlepoint. (The next step will be painting the walls; “builder’s white” makes me kind of sad.)

I used Silk and Ivory on both canvases. I did a Bargello pattern on the floral one, which was fun and fast. There are so many different Bargello patterns–I love June McKnight’s book. She has great pictures and diagrams. We carry this book at TPOIA.

As always, happy stitching,
Susan

All we need is the baby!

The nursery is all ready…all we need is for this little guy to arrive! (Please let it be soon–I’m so ready not to be pregnant any longer!)

I’ve stitched a bunch of canvases for his room…here’s a peak:

Kathy designs adorable canvases! Check out her website by clicking here. She painted the leopard & monkey and the elephants specifically for me–I am a lucky lady–but she may be adding them to her line.

I stitched all of the animals in Silk & Ivory with Balger accents. Each piece uses the same two shades of blue with an interesting background stitch. Here is Byzantine. I also did Hesitation, Diagonal Mosaic, and Nobuko. (There are a couple of other ones too but frankly I cannot walk upstairs to check the names as I am supposed to limit the number of stairs I do!)

I love this lion from Birds of a Feather! I used Fuzzy Stuff on the mane and tail–great effect! The finishing is absolutely darling.

The nursery is ready…come on baby!

Happy stitching,
Susan
