Needlepoint Sayings

A couple of weeks ago pieces of Bunny Mellon’s estate were auctioned. One piece that was immensly popular with bloggers and designers was her needlepoint, “Your Nobunny till Somebunny Loves You.”

As luck would have it, Kate Dickerson has a similar design that reads, “Every Bunny Needs Some Bunny to Love.”

Needlepoint pillows that feature sweet and/or cheeky sayings have always been immensly popular with interior designers, such as Mario Buatta and Jonathan Adler. They provide whimsy and a touch of sass. Plus, they are immensly fun to work on.

Below are links to artists we carry that feature sayings:

What’s New: Waverly Wool is here

20141112_113520 20141112_113459We finally have a great wool option! It’s Waverly Wool, a three ply, 100% wool fiber. Use all three strands on 10 mesh; use two out of three on 13 mesh, and use one out of three on 18 mesh. We carry about 100 colors in 8 yard mini skeins for $1.50 each. You can also special order larger hanks for $12.

We think Waverly is going to be a great choice when you want to stitch with wool: rugs, belt backgrounds, dog collars, and other projects that benefit from a sturdy background. Plus the colors are really vibrant!

Happy stitching,

Dog Days of Summer

I cannot believe Labor Day is this weekend! This summer has whizzed by. As sad as I am to pack up my white jeans and sundresses, I am more than ready for cozy sweaters and cords. As a tribute to our last few days of summer, I am featuring dog canvases that are sprinkled throughout the shop. After all, these are the dog days of summer!

This Maggie & Co. “hugtime” canvas is 13 mesh and $205.

Everyone who comes into the store immediately notices this ADORABLE Maggie & Co. canvas! Personally, I cannot get enough of the details such as the tennis ball hubcaps or the rabbit at the front of the car. This canvas is $175 and is on 18 mesh.

The canvases featured above are part of a series from Susan Battle Designs called “Mod Dogs.” Each canvas is $148 and is on 13 mesh. To see the full line visit our Facebook page, and the album titled “Mod Dogs.”

Shown above is another line from Susan Battle Designs. This line features dog commands. Each canvas is $115 and on 13 mesh. These canvases would be a great project to learn new stitches on as there are large areas of color!

This daschund two part pillow is…you guessed it, another Susan Battle designs canvas! I sense a trend… The daschund pillow is $178 and on 13 mesh.

I hope some of these canine pillows got your tail wagging! However, if you are a feline fanactic there are a couple of canvas designers who feature cute cats.

We hope everyone has a relaxing and fun Labor Day Weekend! We will be open this Saturday, August 30th from 10 am until 2 pm. We will be closed on Labor Day, Monday September 1st. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Fall is Just Around the Corner

Wow! Summer has flown by, hasn’t it? Fall is slowly approaching, and each new day possess a subtle hint of the upcoming season. I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait for the crisp air of fall!

Here at The Point of It All we have already begun to prepare for fall! We are currently featuring a wall of Fall themed canvases behind our cash register. Below are some of the canvases that are being displayed

Works in Progress

KSH Designs Ikat
KSH Designs Ikat

I always have a bunch of works in progress so I can match the canvas with my (stitching) mood. Lately I’ve been wanting something easy and mindless. This Ikat print from KSH/Kate Dickerson Needlepoint ( fits the bill. 13 mesh, about 10″x10.” I’m using Silk and Ivory, which is divine. These aren’t my usual colors but the canvas is going to look great as a pillow in my guest room. I’m also going to do a Jean Smith ( floral as a companion piece for the loveseat. I’m thinking of a creamy green linen fabric with contrast piping in pink and a tailored, pleated ruffle.

JP Needlepoint Zebra
JP Needlepoint Zebra

I’m also working on this zebra canvas from JP Needlepoint ( for my mom. She was recently in New York City and saw a zebra sculpture but in unexpected colors. The black stripes were dark navy blue and the white areas were purple. I was delighted we had a zebra canvas that we could modify! Even though this is a 13 mesh canvas, I am stitching with 2 out of the 3 strands of Trio, which is slightly thicker than a single strand of Silk and Ivory. I find that when I am changing colors on a canvas, this thread trick gives better coverage.

I have a travel size Christmas ornament too but I can’t post a picture. It’s for my husband, Chris, who always reads my blog posts. Right, honey?! Little projects, kept in a zippered bag, are perfect for travel needlepointing, waiting in doctor’s offices, etc.

Happy stitching; happy Independence Day! The Point of It All will be closed on Friday, 7/4 and we’ll be open from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, 7/5.
