All we need is the baby!

The nursery is all ready…all we need is for this little guy to arrive! (Please let it be soon–I’m so ready not to be pregnant any longer!)

I’ve stitched a bunch of canvases for his room…here’s a peak:

Kathy designs adorable canvases! Check out her website by clicking here. She painted the leopard & monkey and the elephants specifically for me–I am a lucky lady–but she may be adding them to her line.

I stitched all of the animals in Silk & Ivory with Balger accents. Each piece uses the same two shades of blue with an interesting background stitch. Here is Byzantine. I also did Hesitation, Diagonal Mosaic, and Nobuko. (There are a couple of other ones too but frankly I cannot walk upstairs to check the names as I am supposed to limit the number of stairs I do!)

I love this lion from Birds of a Feather! I used Fuzzy Stuff on the mane and tail–great effect! The finishing is absolutely darling.

The nursery is ready…come on baby!

Happy stitching,

Happy Easter!

Birds of a Feather Toile Rabbit

Wishing everyone a happy Easter today! Here is an adorable Birds of a Feather canvas I stitched this summer:

It also comes in two other color ways:

Grace, one of the TPOIA girls, stitched this canvas and used a terrific herringbone fabric for the set in…it looks awesome!

The stand up bunnies from The Collection are also adorable:

Molly, another one of the TPOIA girls, just finished a darling little bunny.

Associated Talents and Labors of Love also make wonderful Easter canvases…have fun looking at their webpages!

Happy Easter; happy stitching,
Susan

Silver Needle Goodnight Moon

Four days until my due date! Here is a look at all the needlepoint I’ve done for the baby’s room. There is a definite possibility (okay, make that a 100% certainty) that I’ve gone overboard with the stitching. We have a saying in my family: “Anything worth doing is worth overdoing!” No truer words have been spoken! (Could that be a new canvas for the Susan Battle Needlepoint line?! I think YES!)

Some of these canvases are from Silver Needle(Babar, Celeste, Paddington, Pooh, Peter Rabbit, and Pat the Bunny. Curious George, Where the Wild Things Are, Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, and Eloise were custom painted. I painted Madeline and Clifford myself! Each canvas has a different background stitch, which made stitching so much fun!

Jenny Henry Rubber Duckies

I made a crib mobile out of these rubber duckies from Jenny Henry Designs. She may have discontinued this line of duckies.

Here is the finished Ciao Bella pillow (see this On Point blog post). Note that I’ve also put in an OTT Lite in the nursery!

Darling pillow from Birds of a Feather–a special thanks to Birds of a Feather owner Danielle for sending the canvas as a baby present! Note this canvas also comes in other color ways. I made the night-light on my own–just vertical stripes that echo the crib dust skirt.

Sweet Laurie also stitched pink leopard print booties! O.M.G. they are unbelievable! You know how much I adore animal print…I hope my daughter does too! A special thanks to my friend and decorator extraordinaire, Sally Steponkus, for all her interior design expertise. Be sure to check out her website! Thanks for looking at all these pictures! I’ve had a marvelous time stitching these pieces and I hope they inspire you to incorporate (lots of) needlepoint in your home! Happy stitching, Susan PS I know only about half of you On Point subscribers received last week’s post via email so click here for a link to the Most Versatile Tote Bag Ever!

New from Birds of a Feather

This is a new line of hand-painted canvases from Birds of a Feather…aren’t they adorable?! All are on 13 mesh (yippee!) and are relatively small. I could see these as inset into a larger pillow in a child’s room. Such an easy, quick project!

I will be ordering all of them at the next needlework show (Columbus, OH in June) though I believe I can order them by phone now if you just have to have one or all 9 (!) before then.

Birds of a Feather’s owner, Danielle, is absolutely wonderful…her mother is Sue, owner of Cooper Oaks. They are keeping needlepoint in the family. (Danielle’s twin sister sometimes helps out at the shows too.)

How cute are these floating hippos from Cooper Oaks??

Happy stitching,
Susan
