Elizabeth Turner key fob kit
Elizabeth Turner key fob kit

If you waited until the last minute and need one more present or stocking stuffer, how about a key fob from Elizabeth Turner? I stitched up this bee in one night and then easily (and quickly) inserted it into the leather fob. We’ve got a nice selection of these kits in the shop. Come by Tuesday or Wednesday morning!

Happy stitching and happy holidays,
Susan

FAB FINISHING: This purse makes me happy!

Susan's Elizabeth Turner "Adelaide style" purse

Susan’s Elizabeth Turner “Adelaide style” purse

I just received this purse from the finisher and before I could do a blog post, a customer from Austin came by the shop, fell in love with it, ordered the canvas, took a photo, and posted it to the Steph’s Stitching blog, which was then picked up by the Chilly Hollow blog! Then I received two emails this morning from stitchers who recognized that the picture was taken at The Point of It All and wanted details on the purse! So, what I am conveying with those run-on sentences, is that there is a NEEDLEPOINT FRENZY over this purse!

As well there should be…it is divine! The canvas, double sided and on 13 mesh, is the Adelaide style from Elizabeth Turner Collection. I’ve just looked at their website and it’s under construction so you can’t see the other canvases that come in this style alas. The one I did is called Moroccan Tile and comes in teal instead of purple. But I am obsessed with purple so I stitched over the teal. Cost is $276. We can add your monogram, too, if you want. I chose black patent leather but there are lots of leather colors available. I lined the purse in bright yellow to add even more zing when you open it!

Come by the shop and check out the purse in person. I have the Elizabeth Turner catalog for you to flip through, too!

Happy stitching,
Susan

Check out my finished purses! I am tickled to death with both! I would write more in this blog post but I am too busy picking out ridiculously adorable outfits to wear with these satchels!

Thank you all for voting on the background color of the Swirls purse…I love the rich yellow! And who doesn’t adore brightly colored leather?!

Stay cool and happy stitching,
Susan

Another year, another purse

Welcome 2012! Welcome two more purses to Susan’s needlepoint purse wardrobe!

Two new purses from the Elizabeth Turner Collection: one in my tried-and-true satchel style and one in the new opera bag style. You can see the finished version here It’s soft-sided with a shoulder strap..a petite thing for an evening on the town. I think I will change the dark red to black and possibly some of the metallic silver to metallic gold so the purse goes with more outfits. You can change the colors, you know! Don’t be limited to what’s painted on the canvas…be imaginative and creative!

As for the fun summer colors on the satchel bag, what color shall I do the background? On Point readers and Facebook followers, please vote! Things to keep in mind: this will be my everyday bag in the summer so I don’t want it to get dirty (so probably not white). I don’t mind stitching it black because black over white canvas will not be the nightmare that black on black is. I tried a bit of yellow and I think it looks snappy. I am using Silk & Ivory for the bright colors and Appleton for the background. Please also give ideas for a background stitch. I AM OPEN TO YOUR IDEAS!

Happy stitching!
Susan
