The eternal needlepoint question: what is the back supposed to look like? Some stitchers feel that the back should look exactlylike the front. I've even heard a story about a shop that accidentally put the backside facing out on a pillow because the back was so incredibly neat. Can you believe that?
Others leave threads hanging off the back and it's a real mess. Often those long tails get dragged into other stitches and it looks terrible from the front.
I fall somewhere in the middle. My backs tend to be neat and orderly with the ends clipped very short. (Though no one will mistake the back for the front!)
As the saying goes, There are no needlepoint police! Your back certainly doesn't have to be like the front...no one will ever see it. Just something to think about.
See the photos above; one is neat and the other is a little messier.
